Many people do not realise that there is an appeal process, and what the Inspector of Taxes says is not the last word.
I have a record of success with appeals before the Commissioners, and have also managed this at a distance by helping clients prepare a case.
Though the appeal system has now changed, with the Commissioners replaced by the first tier tax tribunal, and HMRC have introduced an "independent" internal appeal system, the approach needed remains the same.
If you want to pursue appeal against an assessment or a decision by HMRC, always take advice first : you could be wasting your time and money.
